17 Jan 2019 South Africa: 5 hotels and restaurants to visit in 2019
We’re always on the lookout for the latest hotel and restaurant openings for our MICE clients. South Africa is famous for its cuisine and beauty, so we asked our parter Giltedge DMC to hand-pick its favourite restaurants and hotels for you to try out in South Africa.
1. Restaurant: Janse & Co
Award-winning chef Arno Janse led The Kitchen at Maison to a Top 10 spot last year. When we heard that he was leaving Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands and opening a new restaurant in Kloof Street in Cape Town, we got excited! A visit to Janse & Co means macarons dotted with orange marigolds, octopus carpaccio with lemon cream and strawberries and delights like homemade charcuterie, delicious wines and an earthy yet glamorous mood!
2. Hotel: Le Petit Manoir
Situated on the main road in the quaint town of Franschhoek, the new Le Petit Manoir is the ultimate destination for relaxation and fine dining. And great for small groups! Exuding a Cape Winelands feeling, the 5-star guest also has an on-site restaurant that’s run by award-winning chef Kevin Grobler. It’s a menu worth traveling for!
3. Restaurant: Sphere Monk
This spacious restaurant in the trendy Maboneng District in Johannesburg serves artistic yet hearty food. On the menu are three, five- or seven-course menus and it’s run by chef Liam Bloy – who’s still in his twenties! The restaurants full name is Sphere Monk Fine Food Restaurant and while that’s quite a mouthful, so is the food.
4. Hotel: AC Hotel Cape Town Waterfront
The gorgeous AC Hotel Cape Town Waterfront has opened its doors! A great option for MICE professionals, the hotel has 188 rooms as well as meetings’ and conference facilities. With a view of Table Mountain and located centrally near Cape Town’s famous V&A Waterfront, the hotel has an on-site cocktail lounge, Spanish restaurant, café, fitness center and library.
5. Restaurant: FYN Restaurant
Our congratulations to the beautiful FYN Restaurant that has opened its doors in Cape Town! South African meets Japanese cuisine at top SA Chef Peter Tempelhoff’s new restaurant, right in the heart of Cape Town’s city center.
